We moved to Austin, TX in the summer of 2004, thinking this would be a temporary stop on our way to a more permanent destination. While this stop may still be temporary, it is certainly more permanent than we could have ever imagined, and we hope to stay here for awhile!
When we were preparing to move to ATX, everyone told us how much we would love Austin, how its the greatest city in America, the favorite place they’ve ever visited, the best city in Texas, and on and on. We were so excited. Maybe too excited, because the first 6 months of living here brought mostly disappointment. But somewhere along the way, things changed. We began to see the beauty of Austin, the fun places it had to offer, the amazing food available to eat. We started making friends and found a family-away-from-family in the community at our church. We bought a house, got a dog, had a baby, and Toodus got a job, and now we find ourselves rooted in Austin and loving it dearly.
We have become those obnoxious people who believe that Austin is the greatest city in the world. We love the people, the laid-back atmosphere, the fun and spontaneity of the city, the collision of worlds and worldviews. We love the weather (usually) and the surrounding Hill Country.
And mostly we love that God is doing something here. We believe God is changing and transforming this city.
